I’m wearing my City Eyes today
I don’t notice the horse that’s lame
next to the woman tapping my arm
or the child in rags, a bum
I don’t contemplate the education of the streets
I’m wearing my City Eyes today
I can’t look at the dirty man
who pulls himself by hand, his fate
or the cow dragging the weight
I’m wearing my City Eyes today
I won’t see the body I’ve kicked
partially hidden by a bus stand
or the tears on an outstretched hand
whose sole purpose of the day is to find something to eat..
