How else do I describe? - Poem

I am the one I have been waiting for,

There was no recognition before now.

It's just language is so limited,

there is no I...

How else to describe this physical form?

In silence there's experience of all,

The wild energy within bursts it's banks.

Collapsing the shape of who you see,

which you believe...

How else to describe this reality?

There's inherent worth in humanity,

Of being here in pure immensity.

Steeped in love, joy and blissful being,

integration...

How else to describe that 'I' is not me?

Travellers at Dusk - Poem

Sitting amongst the travellers of dusk
The husk
but not it’s juice
dried from the scorching sun

Sitting amongst the travellers of dusk
The musk
of sweat and spice
their skin soaked from the air

Sitting amongst the travellers of dusk
The dusk
the mystery
the implied dream lives on.

The Hyderabadi Times - Poem

The Hyderabadi Times

Living under Hyderabadi skies
Smoke rises, autos fly
Yellow and black take me far
To yogic traditions and the cinema
The city ‘a jungle’ the new arrival swoons
A rollercoaster ride dancing to Tollywood tunes
Day by day a little deeper we go
Limitations, conversations and initiations flow.

Crossing roads a challenge, horns blare
People selling wallets or plastic combs for hair
We can always eat pizza when rice isn’t enough
Especially when the rollercoaster is a little rough
Hot chocolates soothe, Chocochinos smooth
Help us fit in with the Hyderabadi groove

Visions of the future, emails of the past
As we walk along the road hot air blasts
Traffic policemen politely ask us to drink
Responsibility and acceptance force us to think
Fear dissolves after tears secretly form
Transformation takes place, rigidity torn

Eight days in a city an education takes place
We start to adapt to whatever we face
Leaving the city, an ancient town
And the lake that holds Buddha’s crown
Overlooked by a temple, dressed in white
A bride in all her purity reaching great heights.

Looking Within - Poem

The destination keeps changing
but my mind tries to stay the same.
Wherever I am,
whatever I stand for,
is as fluid as the water that makes me.
Makes me into what…?
I don’t know
but I glow
when I know the path is alight
with the right energy.

My mind tries to stop me…
gives me thoughts
that take me away
keeps me dreaming the dream.
I have seen
immortals die and
mortals fly
around my head
no blackness, just red
passions never subside

I try and hide
but they know
where I live
I’m taken away
a false map given
I want to be here now
How to surrender to the truth?
When everything is designed
to lure away
bring me pain

How can I change again?
Can I be trained?
Or chained?
Or can I just refrain?
Nothing is the same in my head
Observe and see
But I can’t agree
To the terms and conditions
of what is Not
I’m stuck

Struck down
by a limbo state
I can’t go back
to who I was before
No interest in outside games
I never understood
My life looks within
I’m shedding my skin
To dissolve the boundary
between outside and within

Bravery - Poem

Bravery is a dying art.
The art of treading a new path.
One which many would shy away from.
Can you see that time goes so fast
when your bravery comes to pass?
Yet the choices we all make
are they really so new?

A Master is inviting you.
The art of noticing within.
One which many would shy away from.
Can you see that time plays tricks too?
Is bravery trying to fool?
Are you ready to challenge
this path if it's really new?

Bravery is a dying art.
The art of a strong warrior.
One which many would shy away from.
Can you see that time seems to slow
when bravery is needed?
You have some choices to make
Why are you so scared of the new?

A Master is asking you to
the art of self-engineering.
He knows you are ready to fight now.
Can't you see that time doesn't stop
for the bravery deep in you?
You're ready for the challenge
There's no need to be scared of the new.

Leaving Ashley Down - Poem

I sit in front of the television
Staring into space
There’s a man talking about some decision
That he really couldn’t face

Upstairs room is bare, bags are packed
But you are not around
You’ve gone away because you lacked
Patience with the sound
of my voice.

Though you didn’t know I was leaving
You didn’t wait to find out
Can’t cope with senseless grieving
And the silence drove me out.

I walk out the door forever
My face dry and soul bare
Realising we’re not together
Knowing how our relationship fared

Middling to worst?
Or the sublime?
Especially when you became mine.
Memories flood me, tears run dry
And the thought of you...
Looking into my room...
Makes me hope that Time
Will heal
my Heart.
Again.

Come Close Now - Song

Recorded in a broom cupboard in India on a second take with an mp3 player - with Anandhi George. I am not musical but this came from nowhere.

I walked up to my friend and said, 'I've written something, but I'm not sure...' She just picked up her guitar and went with it.

The best kind of friends x

Have a listen!

Enjoy!

I want you closer
Come close now
Stand a little nearer
Come close now
Senses are alive
Come close now
I just want you to...
Come close now.

I watch you all the time
Your eyes express all
What is happening?
There is no control.

I want you closer
Come close now
Stand a little nearer
Come close now
Senses are alive
Come close now
I just want you to...
Come close now.

My day revolves
When you appear
My world brightens
When your nearer

I want you closer
Come close now
Stand a little nearer
Come close now
Senses are alive
Come close now
I just want you to...
Come close now.

Silhouettes fade
and your presence glows
It's inevitable
I will follow...
Just follow...
Just follow...
Just follow...

Come a little closer
Come close now
Stand a little nearer
Come close now
Senses are alive
Come close now
I just want you to...
Come close now.

Come close now
Come close now
Come close now
Come close now...

Surface Edge - Poem

Surface Edge

Are my brown eyes too dark?
Do you know what they have to say?
Why is it you think you know
When I choose to look your way?

Always you think you’re right
Always I think I’m through
But we both seem to be undone
By what we think is true

I flood my eyes upon you
I wish you would wash yourself
But you like to choose another truth
Which exist in other realms
Tell me I am not the only one
dancing in this rain
though I am not looking for your shelter
nor your treatment of disdain

But this dam needs rebuilding
there are too many hidden lines
most will be swept by the current
called this inescapable time
that exists in worlds of duality
of which I can’t yet escape
though I’m told its not reality
these bright colours and hard shapes

But what is it you are afraid of?
When you look into the black?
That no light will conquer the surface edge,
that there is no turning back?

Love Unrequited - Poem

 Love Unrequited

My heart has been stirred
Though nobody notices
The spoon dies with disuse
and memories remain
the pulse does not still
There is bubble and air
and blood pours in torrents
at a mere thought
a reminder
a time best forgotten
but it’s clear and it aches

My heart has been cut
Though nobody notices
The knife that is alive with use
and scars remain
the pulse does not still
a current is produced
and electric shocks
touch those who are close
a reminder
a time best forgotten
but can’t be erased
